Spots are a nightmare, they always seem to pop up at the wrong time, over stay their welcome, and are just too tempting to pop! Don’t do it, fight the urge and get yourself from tea tree oil.
What is Tea Tree Oil?
Tea tree oil is an essential oil that comes from the leaves of Melaleuca, a tree native to Australia. It has been used as a traditional medicine by Aborigines for centuries and has worked its way into a variety of markets across the world today.
This oil contains different compounds that are shown to kill certain bacterias, fungi and viruses such as terpinen-4-ol. Due to these germ fighting properties, tea tree is an incredibly versatile oil, used as a natural remedy for healing, preventing infection and treating bacterial or fungal infections.
Tea Tree Oil & Blemishes
There are so many spot treatments on the market today. Gel, cream, ointments and masks, have you seen the pimple stickers that have recently popped up all over instagram?
Studies have shown that this essential oil is more effective than benzoyl peroxide, which is the most common anti-acne medication and strongest spot cream I’ve tried. The antibacterial and anti fungal properties quickly act to reduce size, redness and disinfect.
Tea tree was the first essential oil in my collection, I’ve used it for years and it’s never failed me. It’s a great treatment because it works so quickly and is an easy consistency for you to put makeup over or under.
TIP: If you are using a pure form, dilute with water and apply with a cotton bud. I like to buy the body shop product as it’s already made suited for your skin.
Tea tree can also be used for:
- cuts and scrapes
- nail fungus
- relieve psoriasis
- soothing for irritations
- controlling dandruff
- boosting blood circulation
Give it a try if you want to banish those blemishes away.
