I hope you’ve all been having a good day!
I’m constantly asked advice by models, clients and friends on how to keep their skin clear. A lot of the time this question arrises as I’m removing their makeup from the night before so that I can do skin prep. I know, I know, what a mission! Coming home after a long day or a night out definitely doesn’t give you the motivation to give your face a good scrub. I promise this simple step will make your skin love you!
Why we need to remove our makeup –
After a long day, your skin has been exposed to pollution and dirt, that’s now sitting on your face, in your pores and is nicely mixed in with your makeup or skincare regime. Makeup contains silicones and oily substances, this along with dirt and pollution will clog your pores, cause break outs, and or make acne and blackheads much worse on your precious skin.
Keeping products on your face for an extra 6-9 hours can also make your skin dry and dull. Foundation, powder and any eye makeup will start to settle in fine lines, making your skin appear dull, dry and causing you to look a lot older than you look.
Essentially you’re going to make your skin look worse, because you’re sleeping in makeup, isn’t that why we where makeup in the first place? To look better? It ruins the purpose of wearing it in the first place. Don’t ruin the cycle!
Quick and Easy Makeup Remover –
TOP TIP: Taking off your makeup does not count as washing your face. If you plan on using your face wash to remove your makeup, you’ll have to wash your face twice. Once to remove the makeup, and one to cleanse your skin.
The ultimate natural cheapie? Coconut Oil grab it from the kitchen and slap in on your face, this oil will melt away your makeup in seconds; including waterproof mascara. It’s hydrating and doesn’t take any of your skins natural moisture away. It’s gentle and perfect for sensitive skin, or a face beat face, that needs a serious remover.
Embryolisse Micellar Lotion is a really great product to try out. I use this product personally and on clients. Take a cotton pad and gently wipe over your face and neck to remove your makeup. Its also a great product to use to cleanse the skin if you’re in a big hurry!
Both these products are cruelty free!
So my lovelies, I hope this has given you some motivation to make sure you’re giving your skin proper care.
